Kevin and Verena Riley met while studying music together at Louisiana State University. Kevin had spent his formative years in Louisiana listening to blues, rock & roll, and jazz while Verena had been steeped from an early age in Germany in Brahms, Beethoven, and Mozart. Somehow, this unlikely pair fell in love, got married, had children and continued along their separate musical paths until having the bright idea to make music together. This has required adjustments from both of them. Verena needed to acquaint herself with Louis Armstrong and Hank Williams, as well as learn how to "wing it". Kevin had to learn what classical style was all about and that a ritardando is not necessarily a derogatory term. Although Verena's graduate work was studying the Cello, she has been playing piano since she was six and also plays a mean recorder. Kevin studied classical double bass (you know... the big, upright thing) in college and plays enough piano to get by in his public school choir classes. He secretly wishes he could sing like Chet Baker--or anybody else. Cumulatively, they have played in various orchestras, big-band swing groups, chamber ensembles, jazz combos, solo recitals, and rhythm & blues bands. Additionally, they have extensive wedding experience from the prelude, to the ceremony, to the reception, until the last dancer leaves the floor. They enjoy making music of all types--but especially enjoy playing together and sharing with others the love they have for one another and their love of music. They're hoping to play for you soon....
